Weekend with Larry's Family

Last Saturday, we were excited to see Larry's parents along with his aunt and uncle from GA. Aunt Beth and Uncle Kent drove up from GA and arrived in the early afternoon. A few hours later we drove to the airport to pick up G'ma Pat and G'pa John. We had a very relaxing weekend with them. Saturday night, we had dinner together, played at our playground, then took a walk around campus. After the kids went to bed we stayed up late to play board games. We shared a lot of laughs! On Sunday, we went to church in the morning, then we went out for lunch. We said good-bye for now to Beth and Kent as they headed back home. The rest of us headed to Maryville to check out their famous Fall Foothills Festival. At the festival, they had a huge children's activity area that was completely free. The kids had a blast. We watched a canine stunt show with famous dogs that are routinely shown on Animal Planet. They did awesome tricks and other obstacles. There were huge inflatables for the kids to play on. Lauren spent a lot of time in the toddler section, where they had lot of slides and obstacles for her to climb on. It was a lot of fun. We're looking forward to doing this again every year.

The next day, after Alyssa came home from school and Larry from work, we drove to the IJams Nature Center, which had beautiful trails for us to explore. The main trail takes you down to a boardwalk along the river. It was very neat. We all had a lot of fun hiking and exploring. That night we went to McDonalds for dinner at the kids request, did some shopping, then headed home.

On Tuesday, we took G'ma and G'pa to a local park that the kids love, then some more shopping, then headed home so they could pack. That evening we took them back to the airport and said good-bye. Everyone had a great weekend and we look forward to doing it again.
