Earlier this month, I took the kids to visit the Nina and the Pinta, exact replica ships that Christopher Columbus used on his voyage across the ocean. The ships were visiting Knoxville for two weeks before they moved on to their next location. We had fun learning about New World explorers and the challenges they faced daily. These two ships were completely built by hand, using no power tools- exactly the way they would have been constructed back in Columbus' day. The girls had a great time and Noah slept the whole time. On the way home, they pretended that we were on a ship traveling the high seas. They came up with "sea" names for everyone. When I asked them what Noah's name could be, they decided he was our "parrot" instead. They were mixing up explorers with pirates, but it was cute!
